To support this ambitious growth and our evolving product roadmap, we are seeking a Lead platform engineer. This is a pivotal, hands-on strategic role. You will be responsible for architecting and executing the next generation of our platform. This includes scaling our current AWS serverless stack and evaluating, architecting, and potentially implementing new technologies like Kubernetes for more demanding services.

What you’ll do

• Develop and own the strategic roadmap for VIALET’s platform. You will analyze the current infrastructure (primarily serverless), identify gaps and future needs, and present a clear, argument-driven plan for its evolution.
• Lead the technical evaluation, architectural design, and potential implementation of container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes/EKS) to run alongside our serverless stack, determining the best path forward for new, demanding services.
• Architect and evolve our AWS cloud infrastructure, planning for a potential hybrid approach that balances our existing serverless stack (Lambda, API Gateway) with new container-based workloads to create a cohesive, cost-efficient, and highly available platform.
• Drive a culture of standardization and process improvement. You will proactively identify and implement new processes (e.g., patch management, backup strategies, access control) and integrate them seamlessly into developer workflows (e.g., within GitHub).
• Champion and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, building and maintaining a library of reusable, standardized modules (e.g., using Terraform or CloudFormation) to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Establish and lead a comprehensive observability strategy (monitoring, logging, tracing) and implement robust cost governance and optimization frameworks for our AWS environment.
• Enhance developer productivity and experience by building and maintaining internal tools, standardized CI/CD pipelines, and shared infrastructure components.
• Proactively collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to understand their needs, clearly communicate platform changes, and align the organization on technical and process improvements.
• Research, experiment with, and champion the adoption of new technologies, AI-first engineering practices, and process improvements to boost overall engineering efficiency.

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE, with a proven track record of leading infrastructure strategy and driving platform adoption.
• Strong, hands-on production experience with container orchestration and managing Kubernetes (k8s) clusters (preferably AWS EKS). You must have the expertise to lead a “build vs. buy” or “when and how to adopt” decision.
• Deep understanding of AWS services, including both serverless offerings (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS) and container services (EKS, ECR, Fargate), and best practices for secure, scalable cloud solutions.
• Strong expertise in networking concepts and protocols within complex AWS environments (VPCs, Security Groups, Load Balancers, routing, VPNs).
• A strong sense of ownership and proactivity. You don’t wait for tasks; you identify problems, propose solutions, and take responsibility for the entire platform domain.
• Strong understanding of security best practices and a proactive mindset for implementing security measures and addressing compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and developing automation scripts/tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly articulate a technical vision, justify decisions to stakeholders, and manage change effectively across teams.
• Interest in exploring and applying AI to engineering workflows is highly desirable.

Bonus points

• Experience in the FinTech industry.
• Knowledge of security auditing and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).

Our tech stack

At VIALET, our platform is currently centered on AWS serverless and managed services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS). As we scale, we are actively evaluating a move to a hybrid architecture to support new services. We are looking for a leader to drive this strategic evaluation and, if we proceed, its implementation, blending the power of container orchestration (like Kubernetes/EKS) with the efficiency of serverless. We are committed to standardizing our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and use GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
